Cranbrook
Road is a Victorian terraced house in west London, which we renovated
in 2000. The brief was to create a contemporary interior and provide
additional rooms in the roof.
A strip of roof glazing along the boundary wall has increased the ground floor
area at the rear and allows light into the heart of the building, transforming
what was previously a dark and cramped room into a light spacious kitchen. Replacing
the existing solid back facade with a glass screen, incorporating a
sliding timber door, linked the internal spaces to a new garden terrace.
Oak flooring was laid throughout to further increase spatial connections
between inside and out.
